Chemex Coffee Brewing Guide with Origen Perfecto

Discover the art of brewing coffee with a Chemex, a method that emphasizes clarity, purity, and the unique flavors of Origen Perfecto Colombian coffee beans.

  • Ingredients:
  1. – Medium-coarse Origen Perfecto Colombian coffee beans, renowned for their balanced acidity and smooth body.
  2. – Hot water just off the boil, ideally around 200°F (93°C).
  3. – Chemex coffee maker and Chemex bonded filters.

Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Prepare with PrecisionFold the Chemex bonded filter and place it in the brewer, ensuring the triple-layered side is positioned against the spout. Rinse the filter thoroughly with hot water to remove any paper taste and preheat the Chemex.

Step 2: Measure with CareMeasure out the desired amount of Origen Perfecto coffee beans and grind them to a medium-coarse consistency, resembling sea salt.

Step 3: Bloom and BrewAdd the ground coffee to the pre-rinsed Chemex filter. Start by pouring just enough water (about twice the weight of the coffee grounds) to saturate them evenly. Allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds, releasing trapped gases for optimal extraction.

Step 4: Pour in StagesGradually pour the remaining hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, starting from the center and spiraling outward. Maintain a steady pour to ensure all grounds are saturated uniformly.

Step 5: Steep and ExtractOnce you’ve added all the water, allow the coffee to steep for about 3-4 minutes. Adjust the steeping time based on your preference for strength.

Step 6: Serve with AppreciationRemove the Chemex filter with brewed coffee grounds. Swirl the brewed coffee gently within the Chemex to mix the flavors. Pour the brewed Origen Perfecto coffee into your favorite mug or serving vessel, and enjoy its nuanced flavors and smooth finish.
